<< Wings Over Georgia >> A Guide to Birding in Georgia
The Marietta Merlins took their first Georgia Youth Birding Competition by storm, earning FIRST PLACE in the Middle School Division and SECOND PLACE overall out of 32 teams (over 100 participants) by identifying 124 species of birds from 6:00pm April 28 - 6:00pm April 29! The team worked hard all year to get ready for their Big Day and it certainly paid off. The experience was one that all the kids and their families will never forget! It was made even more special when the team's coaches - Ken Blankenship and Karen Theodorou - were honored as Best Mentors in the competition. Congratulations to the team, and thanks again to the families who also put forth a tremendous effort to bring it all together.
